Organization Director

Purpose: The position of Organization Director serves as the main organizational lead for all of UX Speed Dating. They drive the organization’s mission of providing unique and highly useful programming for the UX design and start-up communities here in the San Francisco Bay Area and beyond. The Organization Director will help lead the group into the next phase of it’s life through consistent programming, membership growth, and volunteer management.

Location: San Francisco Bay Area

Key Responsibilities:

  • Hosting “Date Night” with an infectious enthusiasm and candor
  • Available for questions and support of group members
  • Helping to build out the uxspeeddating.org domain
  • Ensuring calendar is consistently filled and marketed
  • Managing organizational finances and budget
  • Directs the Social Media & Marketing Coordinator
  • Directs the Sponsorship Coordinator
  • Looks for and actuates growth opportunities in other cities
  • Managing the Meetup.com account
  • Hauling materials, beer, and pizza around
  • Other duties as they arise

Responsible to: The 630+ members of the group and the volunteers you manage.

Length of Appointment: 12 to 18 months ideally. You will be responsible for finding your own replacement. This should not be a multi-year engagement as you should let others have the opportunity to lead this organization.

Time Commitment: No more than 15 hours per month plus the third Wednesday of the month for 5 hours.

Qualifications: Candidate will be a mid to senior level UX Design practitioner with enthusiasm for agile UX methods. Should have some experience leading smaller professional orgs or other volunteer groups.

Support: Training for this position will be provided. Various account and domain logins will also be part of the transition.

Dress Code: Business Casual or heavy metal tee-shirts.

Social Media & Marketing Coordinator

Purpose: The position of Social Media & Marketing Coordinator will be responsible for the growth and management of UX Speed Dating’s social media accounts, email marketing campaigns, and other outreach channels. They support the mission of providing unique and highly useful programming for the UX design and start-up communities here in the San Francisco Bay Area and beyond.

Location: San Francisco Bay Area

Key Responsibilities:

  • Managing Facebook and Twitter accounts
  • Scheduling batch posts 2-3 weeks in advance for steady saturation
  • Fielding any incoming social media questions and comments
  • Leading the creation and delivery of the monthly newsletter
  • Help creating content for the website
  • Driving event attendance and new memberships
  • Collaboration with the Sponsorship Coordinator
  • Co-hosting the monthly “Date Night” event
  • Basic event photography
  • Managing the Mailchimp account
  • Staffing the registration table at events
  • Other duties as they arise

Responsible to: Organization Director

Sponsorship Coordinator

Purpose: The position of Sponsorship Coordinator will be responsible for locating, nurturing, and creating sustainable sponsor relationships for UX Speed Dating. This role is incredibly important as any and all events are only possible through sponsor funding. They help the organization find creative ways to meet sponsors unique needs and wants while keeping with the organization’s mission. They are not afraid to be direct with what the organization needs from sponsors.

Location: San Francisco Bay Area

Key Responsibilities:

  • Finding potential sponsors
  • Keeping sponsor packet updated and public-facing
  • Delivering sponsorship packet to interested parties
  • Collecting branding assets
  • Helping sponsors craft specific outreach
  • Help creating content for the website
  • Coordinating cross-channel communications
  • Collaborating with the Social Media & Marketing Coordinator
  • Event location, food/beverage, grand prize selection
  • Staffing the registration table at events
  • Other duties as they arise

Responsible to: Organization Director
